Effect of ATP on Potassium Permeability of Pig Ghosts Cell

Abstract
|
|
|
This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of ATP on potassium permeability of pig ghosts cell. The results was summarized as follows.
1) In normal red blood cells, there was K+ loss in reaction with Hg++.
2) In ATP poor pig ghosts cell, there was a marked decrease in K4 shifting.
3) In a group of pig ghosts cell treated with ATP, there was K+ shifting as in normal pig red cells.
It was also observed that there was a sudden increase in K+ shifting in reaction with Hg++.
